Skagit Legal Aid, with the support of the Swinomish Indian Tribal Community and the Native American Law Student Association at Seattle University School of Law, invite you to attend a FREE Tribal Law Training and Luncheon on Friday, April 29, 2022 from 10:00am - 1:00pm at the Swinomish Casino & Lodge in Anacortes, Washington.
Only 50 people can attend in person, so register today! You can register on Skagi Legal Aid's website: https://www.skagitlegalaid.org/events/tribal-law-training
Attorneys and law students will learn about the following:
A CLE accreditation request will be submitted to the Washington State Bar Association for 3.0 credit hours.
All attorney participants will be sworn into the Swinomish Tribal Bar immediately following the training. Skagit Legal Aid will pay the tribal bar admission fees for all attorneys.
After the training, attorneys and law students can sign up to volunteer at one (or more) pop-up legal clinic occurring on the Swinomish Reservation over the summer, although it is not mandatory to sign up to volunteer to attend the event.
This project is funded by the WSBA Powerful Communities Initiative. The WSBA Powerful Communities Project Initiative is designed to amplify communities who are denied justice due to systemic oppression, advance the WSBA’s mission and purposes outlined in General Rule 12.2, encourage public service by WSBA members, and implement the State Plan for the Coordinated Delivery of Legal Aid to Low-Income People.
