Through the prism of the harrowing story of the 2002 Bering Sea conflagration and abandon ship of the fishing and processing vessel F/V GALAXY, the presentation will provide an overview of seamen's remedies for personal injury and wrongful death under the Jones Act, Death on the High Seas Act, and general maritime law.
Materials will be distributed electronically to registered attendees prior to CLE - please print and bring them if you wish to have them for the CLE.

David C. Bratz is the Managing Director of the maritime law firm, Le Gros Buchanan & Paul, practicing out of the firm’s office in Anacortes. He has been with the firm since 1991. David’s practice emphasizes representing vessel owners and maritime employers in all aspects of maritime litigation. He has represented vessel owners in a number of major casualty claims including sinkings, fire and collisions, as well as employment claims ranging from wage and contract, to discrimination and harassment, to mutiny.
David is a member of the Washington and Alaska Bar Associations. He is admitted to the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington, the U.S. District Court for the District of Alaska, U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit, and to the U.S. Supreme Court. He graduated the University of Washington School of Law in 1985.
