Gale Hickok of Guardian Title in Mount Vernon will present on the challenges that arise in 1031 Exchanges in Real Property transactions, and the issues facing practitioners.

Gale Hickok is General Manager/President of Guardian Northwest Title Company, formerly Skagit County Title Company, which previously did business as First American Title of Skagit and Island County. Guardian’s primary business is to issue title insurance policies for its underwriter First American Title Insurance. Guardian also closes real estate transactions, as an escrow closer.

    Gale also serves as the President and General Manager of SEAS, dba First American Exchange of Skagit County, a wholly owned subsidiary of Guardian. This subsidiary conducts facilitation services for IRS Section 1031 Tax Deferred Exchanges. He has been a qualified facilitator since 1988.

     He is both a State of Washington LPO (Limited Practice Officer) and a CES (Certified Exchange Specialist) with the Federal Exchange Association for 1031 Tax Deferred Exchanges, each of which requires 10 hours per year of continuing education. He is a current Board Member of the Washington Land Title Association and previously served as President of that association.

     Mr. Hickok holds a Certificate of Instructor Approval for State of Washington, Department of Licensing on Taxation/Real Estate Closing Practices/Business Management.
